He keeps the cemeteries looking so good

Anyone who regularly attends Oxford Township Board meetings knows that compliments aren’t often doled out by the public. But last week Brian Duerden got plenty of them.
‘I feel he just does a super, super, outstanding job,? said Linda Hickmott, an Oxford native who now lives in Lapeer County’s Columbiaville.
Duerden, who owns BAM Landscape and Lawn Care, is responsible for maintaining the township’s four cemeteries, which together equal 27 acres.
Hickmott told officials Duerden, who lives in Orion Township, does an ‘awesome job? keeping the cemeteries looking good, especially considering he’s a one-man operation.
‘When you look at the landscape companies that drive around in their fancy trucks and trailers, you usually see two and three people,? she said. ‘He’s one person representing Oxford Township well.
‘I just hope you continue to renew his contract,? Hickmott added.
She suggested that maybe the township could give Duerden a ‘Christmas bonus? or ‘gift bag? as a reward for his efforts.
‘What you say might not get him a raise, it just makes it harder for us to fire him,? joked Supervisor Bill Dunn.
But seriously, folks. . . Dunn said it’s good to hear from someone ‘who has something nice to say.?
‘A lot of times (people) don’t take the time to come to the meetings and express it,? he said. ‘Thank you very much.?
