Hit-and-run suspect left trail

After causing a two-car accident on M-24 and Drahner Rd., a 30-year-old Oxford man fled the scene and left police a trail of oil to find him.
According to the police report, witnesses saw Kevin Shaw Puckett take off down E. Drahner after hitting a 36-year-old man from Lapeer and a 23-year-old woman from Lynn, leading police through the Oxford Lakes Subdivision, all the way out to Lakeville Rd.
The oil trail led into the Parker Lake Estates trailer park and right to Puckett’s driveway where his damaged truck was parked.
When police questioned Puckett, he claimed the damage was done ‘several weeks ago.? As he was being arrested, officers could smell alcohol on his breath and he admitted to having ‘one beer at a friends house.?
According to the report, Puckett’s blood alcohol level came back at .102 percent and after searching his home, officers found a plastic baggy containing ‘numerous partially smoke marijuana cigarettes? that Puckett admitted to owning.
The accident victim from Lapeer was transported to POH with back and neck injuries but was released that same day. The female victim only sustained minor injuries.
Because the injuries sustained from the crashes were only minor, Puckett was released from the Oakland County Jail and cited for fleeing the scene and operating while under the influence.
