Home invasion thwarted

The quick reasoning of a homeowner and the timely response of Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies thwarted a 44-year-old Waterford man who was allegedly breaking into a home on W. Oakwood Rd. in Oxford Twp.
According to police reports, the owner came home and saw an unfamiliar van was parked behind her house and noticed that it was running.
She immediately called police and described the situation, saying there was a possible break-in in progress. She then waited outside for deputies to show up.
Police arrived on the scene, and upon entering the house, they found the alleged burglar, Scott Edward Stafford. He was placed under arrest and taken back to the Oxford substation for further questioning.
While at the substation, police said he confessed to a previous breaking-and-entering in Metamora.
