HomeGrown wins at international comp

Father and son, owner and head brewer, John and Joe Powers, proudly cheer-ing their gold-winning IPA after a long day of brewing.

For the second year in a row, Oxford’s HomeGrown Brewing Company won the title of Michigan IPA Brewery of the Year and gold for their Zephyros Hazy India Pale Ale (IPA) at New York’s International Beer Competition.
Zephyros has a floral aroma, grapefruit notes and uses heavy, late-addition hops and is described by the brewery as “cloudy, with a chance of blowing your mind”.
They are planning to make it part of their permanent line-up. “It pretty much already is, anyway,” Joe said. “Technically it’s on the ‘seasonal’ board, but it’s always on there.”
