Household Hazardous Waste Day a success

Oxford and Addison residents made a strong showing at the Household Hazardous Waste Day in Orion Township Saturday.
Eighty-one vehicles from Oxford and 24 from Addison showed up at the Eagle Valley Recycling and Disposal Facility to drop off hazardous materials such as car batteries, motor oil, and mercury.
A total of 492 vehicles from Orion, Oakland, Oxford and Addison townships safely disposed of waste materials that day.
Volunteers from each of the participating communities helped conduct the event. Members of the Great Oaks Civitan Club made up Oxford’s delegation of volunteers, which included Sara Bejma, James Scribner, Dennis and Jean Stephens, Merle Smith, Patti and Ed Durr and Doleen Behnke, who chaired the event for Oxford.
For Addison, volunteers included township Trustee John Sutphin and resident Joe Schnur.
