Icers give life lessons to Clear Lakers

Four members of the Wildcat varsity hockey team visited Clear Lake Elementary on Dec. 16 to give some words of advice to a group of second graders.
Corey Hrischuk, Dennis Siitari, Brennon Orr and Nick Hocker spoke to Liz Hague’s second grade class about the importance of setting goals in life.
‘It’s important to set that goal so you can all work hard to accomplish it,? said Hrischuk. ‘As a team we all set goals to win so we can win games. We work hard to reach them so we can win the league.?
Hocker told the second graders that it was important set goals at school and work hard in order to be able to do something with your life.
Towards the end of the time, the students started asking Siitari, who is from Sweden, what Christmas was like for him growing up.
He said that Christmas in Sweden is similar to Christmas in the United States, but instead of opening presents on Dec. 25, they open them on the day before.
After the presentation was complete, the hockey players interacted with the students, signing autographs and playing a math game with them.
They concluded the session by handing out tickets to an upcoming Wildcats game.
