Join monks for prayers, pig roast

St. Augustine’s Lutheran Monastery’s annual Fellowship Day will be held on Saturday, October 14, starting at 9:30 a.m., which will feature several outstanding speakers and a pig roast.

The day will begin with a Festival Mass at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by coffee and visting at 10:30 a.m. A presentation will be given by Rev. James A. Wetzstein, a pastor of Valparaiso University, on “Bridging the Generation Gap” at 11 a.m. Mid-day prayers will be followed by a pig roast at 1 p.m. The cost for the pig roast will be a free will offering.

Father John Cochran, Prior of the monastery, will preside at the opening Mass, with Rev. Dr. Frank Senn preaching. Wetzstein, who is the University Pastor at Valparaiso University in Indiana, will serve as the main presenter.

St. Augustine’s is located at 3316 Drahner Road, east of M-24 in Addison township. It is the only Lutheran Monastery in the United States. The Fellowship Day event is open to the public, but reservations are appreciated.
