Lacrosse team drops two games

The Varsity Lacrosse team suffered two more defeats this past week at the hands of Troy High School and Royal Oak.
According to Head Coach Joe Zmikly, Oxford put up a good fight on Friday, April 16, but suffered a heartbreaking 8-4 defeat at the hands of Royal Oak.
Like previous games this season, the Wildcats were able to jump ahead early but couldn’t maintain momentum. They trailed 5-3 at halftime and were able to gain some momentum heading into the fourth quarter, but late penalties stopped any momentum they built.
‘We took nine penalties, and we just can’t do that and expect to win,? said Zmikly.
Wildcat goals were scored by sophomore Garrett Kovacic and freshman Piper Thaler, who had a hat-trick.
The Wildcats lost 13-2 against Troy on Tuesday, April 13.
Goals were scored by Thaler and junior Josh Kimbrough.
Zmikly said that the team played much better than their previous game against West Bloomfield, even though the score wasn’t an indicator.
The next games for the Wildcats are at home Thursday, April 22 against Davison at 7 p.m. and Friday at home against Waterford Mott at 7 p.m.
