Local real estate team tops internationally

Mike and Darlene Hendrix are not just partners in marriage, they’re partners in their occupation as well.
The Hendrix’s, who’ve been married 40 years and lived in Oxford since 1971, have been sales associates for Coldwell Banker Shooltz Realty in Oxford for the past decade.
Mike worked for GM for 34 years and said he retired earlier than he anticipated. He said he ‘coaxed? his wife into joining him in the real estate business.
‘It was something I always had interest in,? he said.
The Hendrix’s have been a winning team ever since. They were named among the top nine percent of all sales associates internationally for Coldwell Banker in January because of their large production rate. They were named Number One in buyer controlled sales for Coldwell Banker Shooltz in 2004. And to top it off, they were named top sales associates for Coldwell Banker Shooltz for the month of February in 2005.
But Darlene said they never set extreme goals for themselves.
‘We just take good care of (our clients) and it falls into place,? she said.
The Hendrix’s said about 90 percent or more of their business comes from referrals. That combined with the business ethics of Bob Shooltz have made them as a success, according to the couple.
‘His integrity, honesty and ethics are the reason that we’re here now,? Mike said.
Darlene said besides working as a team, the reason they’re so successful is they genuinely care about clients, always putting their goals, dreams and wants first.
‘There’s no half-way point in this business,? she said. ‘You either do it, or you don’t.?
Helping make Team Hendrix a force to be reckoned with in the local real estate market are Nancy Rivers, their associate agent and Joyce Cech, their marketing assistant.
‘We have surrounded ourselves with the best of the best,? Darlene said.
To stay on top, the Hendrix’s have made it a priority to keep up with the times via technology. They conduct their own virtual tours, where buyers can see a potential homes exteriors and interiors online, and maintain their own personal websites. They said customers are shopping online more than ever and technology is a great asset to their business.
Technology aside, the ever-expanding Oxford/Orion area has certainly been a huge component of the Hendrix’s success and will continue to be so for years to come.
‘I think people who have left here and come back five or 10 years later would be shocked at the growth in this area,? Mike said.
