Local silent auction to benefit breast cancer patients

A silent auction to benefit an organization that financially supports women going through breast cancer treatments will take place at a mid-September arts and crafts show.
The Shades of Pink auction will be held at the 5th Annual Home Gallery Fine Art and Craft Show, September 19-20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 5620 Hummer Lake Road in Oxford.
Shades of Pink helps breast cancer patients with rent, transportation, and other expenses during difficult treatments and helps them to cover costs that health insurance doesn’t cover.
Among the items to be auctioned include artwork from each of the event’s participating artists, golf outings, tanning packages, gift certificates from local businesses, Renaissance Festival tickets, antiques and much more.
Local businesses offering gift certificates include Mulberry Hills Golf Club, Tan Company of Oxford, Lakeville Inn and Restaurant, Oxford Hills Golf and Country Club and Nature’s Better Way.
Other community artists will also be donating artwork.
Besides the auction, there will be art demonstrations and even a petting zoo with alpacas.
Shades of Pink has been providing support for women for about six years.
Last year, they were able to help 12 women.
They hope to help more this year and expand their services nationally.
