According to statements given by the family to Deputy John Neph, the incident happened around 10 p.m. The victim heard a knock on the front door and when he answered it a masked man bulled his way in. The suspect was wearing a blue bomber jacket, dark jeans, army ‘jump? boots and armed with an ‘L? shaped baton and the 9 mm pistol. He also wore a leather ‘duty? belt with a gun holster, a pair of Smith and Wesson handcuffs and an unknown amount of plastic ‘flex? cuffs.
The Oxford man was beaten to the ground with the baton and then duct taped about the neck. The victim told Deputy Neph, ‘He wanted dope. I told him I had no dope.?
When the victim’s 42-year-old wife and 14-year-old daughter entered the room, the suspect pointed the Smith and Wesson at them and told them to lie on the ground. They obeyed and were handcuffed with the plastic ‘flex? cuffs.
The family reported the man then searched the home and came back with a key to a gun cabinet. He took the 14-year-old to where the guns were, picked out and loaded a .45 caliber Ruger pistol with wood grips and a .22 pistol. When the two came back into the living room, the girl started to fight with the man, kicking him in the groin. He pushed her to the ground, told her to behave, found the man’s wallet and stole $90. He then ran out the door and escaped on foot in an unknown direction.
Deputy Neph found the victim sitting the floor in a pool of his own blood. Paramedics transported the man to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital where he was treated.
