New MEAP results show improvement

The results for the elementary and middle school level MEAP were released on May 6. According the Michigan Department of Education, results by subject for the Clarkston Community School District include:
English Language Arts:
? Grade 4: 14 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 74.1 percent met Michigan standards.
? Grade 7: 24.8 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 59.2 percent met Michigan standards.
Reading:
‘Grade 4: 36.7 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 57.4 percent of students met Michigan standards.
‘Grade 7: 39.6 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 46.4 percent of students met Michigan standards.
Writing:
‘Grade 4: 7.1 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 61.3 percent of students met Michigan standards.
‘Grade 7: 9.5 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 72.5 percent of students met Michigan standards.
Mathematics:
‘Grade 4: 38.6 percent of student exceeded Michigan standards, and 46.3 percent of studetns met Michigan standards.
‘Grade 8:58.9 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 24.9 percent of students met Michigan standards.
Science:
‘Grade 5:42.6 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 50.8 percent of students met Michigan standards.
‘Grade 8:23.7 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 60.3 percent of students met Michigan standards.
Social Studies:
‘Grade 5: 42.6 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 50.8 percent of studetns met Michigan standards.
‘Grade 8: 10.6 percent of students exceeded Michigan standards, and 31.9 percent of students met Michigan standards.
