With summer just around the corner, many water lovers flock to the open sea in their vessel of choice, be it a speed boat, pontoon or jet ski.
But just in case any of those marine dwelling vessels have a mechanical problem, there’s always Oakland Mobile Marine.
First established in Oxford in 1998 at the Stor ‘N? Lock on N. Oxford Rd., Oakland Mobile’s business has doubled every year, which is why they are now located in a larger facility at 375 S. Glaspie.
Oakland Mobile offers tune-ups, preventive maintenance, trouble shooting, vessel re-wires and electronic installations, just to name a few.
Their four trained technicians have the technical knowledge and know-how to have a boat up and running with minimum downtime.
Just like the name says, Oakland Mobile will travel anywhere in north Oakland County to perform minor repairs, like engine tune-ups and oil changes.
Their stocked parts department allows for quick repairs and if its not in stock they can usually get it the next business day.
‘We’re from prop to canvas a one-stop shop,? said Dan Wells, owner of Oakland Mobile Marine, which is offering 15 percent off all retail until the end of June.
Don’t think you have to own a high-end Hatteras yacht to be serviced at Oakland Mobile.
They service all makes, like MerCruiser, OMC, Volvo, Mercury, Johnson, Evinrude, Honda, Yahama which includes engine repair (inboard and outboard), sterndrive repair, shrink wrapping, storage (inside and out), winterizations, upholostery and canvas repair and boat restoration.
Wells has been interested in the marine field since he was a child. He said he repaired numerous friend’s boats for free before deciding to open up his own business.
Formerly known as AAV Enterprises, Wells decided to change the name to Oakland Mobile Marine in 2003 so customers would know what their focus was.
Oakland Mobile still offers winter storage at their 65,000 square foot outdoor storage area at the Store ‘N? Lock.
Oakland Mobile Marine is open Mon-Fri from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and 9 a.m.-Noon on Saturdays. After hours appointments can be made.
