OHS Improv Team helps send kids to diabetes camp

According to the American Diabetes Association website, one in every 400 children suffers from diabetes.
But now, two Oxford students with diabetes will have the chance to learn more about their disease and how to stay healthy, thanks to the Oxford High School Competitive Improv Team.
Lakeville Elementary students Brendan Shea, 7, and Autumn Desmarais, 10, were chosen to attend the American Diabetes Camp Midicha in Fenton this summer after the Improv Team donated $450 generated by admission fees to their shows this year.
The Lakeville Student Council contributed $235 to foot the rest of the bill.
While at the camp, Shea and Desmarais will have the opportunity to meet other children with diabetes, take classes to learn about the diesease and learn how to take care of themselves by eating healthy snacks.
Of course, there will be horseback riding, hiking and swimming for the kids to enjoy. ‘I’m really glad I’m going to this camp,? Shea said. ‘Diabetes is a really hard disease to have.?
Both students would like to thank the Improv Team and everyone who donated money for them to go.
