OHS marching band gets new uniforms

The Oxford High School marching band will order new uniforms for the first time in nearly 12 years, following board approval.

During a regular meeting of the Oxford Schools Board of Education in February, board members listened to a presentation from OHS Band Director Jim Gibbons, who explained the need for the uniforms.

It was noted during that meeting that the current uniforms are 11 years old and worn out.

At a March 13 board meeting, the board approved the purchase of 200 new uniforms through Stanbury Uniforms for the amount of $91,509.

With a modern design, the uniform vests are blue, gold, and white in color.

Each uniform set also includes a shako hat and two sets of pants—one white and one black.
