OMS seventh-graders earn math medals

Sixty-four seventh-graders at Oxford Middle School received medals for their achievements in the subject of mathematics during the 2008-09 school year.
In order to receive medal, a student had to have scored 100 percent on eight 2-minute drills, which tested students addition, subtraction, division and multiplication skills along with their knowledge of formulas, symbols, algebraic equations and fraction/decimal conversions.
The students also had to score 100 percent on two other tests and at least 80 percent on their final exam in math.
‘What we’re trying to do is improve the math scores of the district’s students,? said teacher Kimberly M. Decator.
