Oxford dominates on the diamond

Oxford Wildcats defeated Richmond 2-0 on March 27, as pitchers Jack Kitchner and Josh Allen combined to throw a shutout.

Kitchner and Allen struck out seven while allowing only one hit and no walks.

Kitchner went four innings, allowing zero runs, one hit, striking out five, and walking zero. Josh Allen recorded the last nine outs to earn the save.

Ben Nuss and Anthony D’Alessandro each collected one hit to lead the offense.

Oxford was was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.

At its opening game March 24, the team also took their first win of the season with a 10-5 score against Davison High School.

Their win came behind an offensive attack led by Nuss going 3 for 5, collected three runs batted in (RBI) and was one home run shy of hitting for the cycle. He also scored two runs.

Braun Mayette, Gage Warzecha, and Josh Allen each collected a double.

RBI’s that night also came from Garrett Tyrrell, Justin Allen, Evan Brunning, Gage Warzecha and Mario Scribner.

Evan Brunning got the win on the mound.

The team is now 2-0 overall.

On Wednesday, March 29, the team will travel to Utica High School (47255 Shelby Rd., Shelby Township). The game is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
