Oxford High School sends 264 grads into the world

Sunny, warm and breezy ? absolutely magificent weather for an outdoor commencement ceremony.
And what a picture perfect day it was Sunday, June 5 as Oxford High School graduated 264 seniors in its first ever outdoor commencement on the new football field.
An impressive 95 members of the Class of 2005 graduated with honors, meaning they finished with grade point averages ranging from 3.2 to 4.0.
The day was especially perfect for senior Robert Cerato who was presented the coveted Oxford Cup ? the highlight of OHS graduation for 75 years.
Since 1930, the Oxford Cup has been awarded annually at commencement to the senior who’s academically in the upper half of the graduating class and ‘who has shown the best all around development,? according to Superintendent Virginia Brennan-Kyro.
Members of the junior and senior classes along with the OHS faculty vote for the Oxford Cup winner ‘based upon proficiency in scholarship, friendly social qualities, well-balanced physical development and superior school citizenship,? she said.
Cerato graduated first in his class with a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend the University of Michigan to study electrical or chemical engineering.
Oxford’s top 10 graduates included Cerato, Christopher Agar, Lisa Travnikar, Alicia Kramer, Adam Burton, Elizabeth Bellairs, Stephen Smith, Melanie Neumeyer, Cassandra Kish and Kacey Cookingham.
