Oxford High School teacher Katie Goetz received the 2019 SHAPE-Michigan Honor Award from the Society of Health and Physical Educators on Nov. 7, at the SHAPE-MI annual conference in Lansing.
The Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPEMi) is dedicated to the promotion of the organization of School, Community, and National programs of health education, physical education, recreation and dance which will embody such opportunities and which will insure the inclusion of such programs within the best philosophical and social context of American life.
The criterion for the SHAPE awards require a great commitment to excellence and service in the community which “certainly defines dedicated and hard-working leader Katie Goetz,” said Oxford Community Schools Communications Specialist Dani Stublensky.
Goetz teaches not only Health and Physical Education classes at Oxford High School but she is also one of the teachers of the Leadership class at OHS.
The OHS Leadership class plans engaging, spirit-filled events for students such as school assemblies, homecoming activities, prom, charity fundraisers, leadership conferences, school carnivals, spirit days and much more.
The Leadership class has been awarded top honors under her direction. She is also involved in Bully Busters and student mentorship.
