Oxford Middle School presents Twinderella

By now everybody knows the classic fairy tale Cinderella ? wicked stepmother and stepsisters, royal ball, fairy godmother, glass slippers, back by midnight, handsome prince, happily ever after, etc., etc.
But do you know the lesser known tale of Bob ? long lost twin brother of Cinderella?
You don’t? Really?
Well, now’s your chance to hear the rest of the story as the Oxford Middle School Drama Club proudly presents Twinderella Friday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the OMS Commons. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for kids.
‘It’s a spoof on Cinderella,? said Co-Director Catherine Colagross. ‘It’s absolutely hilarious. The kids are having a ball.?
Written by Charlie Lovett, Twinderella includes the basic story of Cinderella (played by Olivia Martin) and the story’s famous characters, but that’s where the similarities end.
Twinderella is packed with modern references to things like the Internet (which we learn Cinderella likes to surf), loaded with funny lines and bits, and most importantly tells the little known tale of Bob.
Bob, played by Parker Colling, is Cinderella’s long lost twin brother, separated from his sister when their parents were carried off by wild beasts.
Bob lives with his evil stepfather (played by Ben Lemanski) and cruel stepbrothers Mortimer and Eggbert (played by Cris Tribble and Joey Brady). Sound familiar?
His stepfamily won’t let Bob play in Prince Percy’s (played by Doug Toth) baseball game.
But with the help of Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother (played by Jenna Mallard) and Bob’s mafia-style Godfather (played by Dane Carten), things work out in the end for the reunited twins.
Not to give too much away, but who knew you could play baseball wearing glass slippers?
A total of 50 middle school students are involved in the play, according to Colagross, who is co-directing the play with Jack Gray.
