Park festivities bring Christmas to Oxford

Despite the cold weather, students from preschool and kindergarten made their way to Centennial Park for a special Christmas treat.
The Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce chose numerous members from around the community to read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to the tiny tots.
Each child received a bag with a coloring book and special candy.
The 26 readers included employees from local schools, employees of Oxford Bank, POH Medical Center among others.
Oxford residents gathered last Thursday evening in Centennial Park to take part in the annual tree lighting event.
The Big Cheif Chorus, from Pontiac, sang popular Christmas carols as Santa Claus visited with the youngsters.
There was a brief moment of humour when half of the tree didn’t light up, but it was fixed a few moments later.
