Sometime Monday, a fire suppression system pipe burst at the Oxford Veterans Memorial Civic Center, flooding the first and second floors along with the entire basement.
Oxford Community Schools has nixed its plans to buy a local church to house its preschool programs and is instead, looking to purchase a historic building in downtown Oxford with the intention of moving the district’s central administration and board of education offices there.
Andrew Kyle Holland was arraigned in United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, on the federal charge of transferring obscene material to a minor across state lines by means of a computer.

One suspect busted in an Oxford drug raid last week has reportedly fled the state and another has been arraigned on drug charges. The bust occured on Glaspie Street Jan. 22, but a series of glitches enabled one of those arrested, Richard Hargraves, 19, to be released from custody. Hargraves has fled to Tennessee, his friends told police.
Only one resident, a school district representative, the village manager and a reporter turned out Tuesday to hear the recommendations of the Oxford Village Street Improvement Committee.
Kathy Schafnitz arrived in her classroom at Oxford Intermediate School with two new “students” – a pair of stuffed flamingos. The latest incident in a six-year prank “war” between three Oxford Lakes families since summer 1988 when a pair of lawn ornament flamingos went missing from Mary Ann Kenner’s lawn. Schafnitz was a prime suspect.
