Oxford High School seniors Travis Roth and Chelsea Kessler were named King and Queen of Winterfest 2010 during half-time at Friday night’s basketball game. The girls varsity basketball team defeated Lapeer West, 49-32 to cap off the Winterfest fun.
Oxford Village council intends to offer a tax abatement to Relume Technologies, an LED manufacturer looking to move into the village.
Relume Technologies offered to donate a $50,000 wireless lighting system for the downtown area’s 78 street lights, in exchange for being a test-site for 90 days.

Oxford and Addison townships will benefit from the U.S. Justice Department’s COPS FAST program. Each township will get a $75,000 policing grant from the 1994 Crime Bill.
The Michigan Department of Transportation has notified Oxford Village that it will receive a left-turn traffic signal for M-24 at Burdick.
The Oxford Township Parks and Recreation Commission has reached agreement to purchase about 56 acres of land adjacent to the Oxford Intermediate School. The Oxford Public Library is looking to purchase an additional four acres for a park-library merger.

W.I. Thieme, Chairman of the Board of American Aggregates Corporation, today announced to the Oxford Leader that American Aggregates had purchased the one-half interest in the Oxford plant which has for many years been owned by Ray Gravel Company.
There will be no primary election in Oxford Village this year. Only five have filed for three council vacancies. As long as there are not more than six, a primary need not be held.
Oxford and Lake Orion Maccabees held a joint installation of officers at the Veteran’s Hall on January 22nd.
