Portion of food sales to benefit hurricane relief

With everyone pulling together to help aid those who suffered from Hurricane Katrina, Oxford resident Shannon Burns decided to join the bandwagon and raise money for the relief efforts.
After her husband, a paid-on-call firefighter with the Oxford Fire Department, helped collect a large amount of money from their boot drive, she thought she could help too.
An independant consultant for Tastefully Simple, Burns decided to donate 50 cents from every product she sells until October 31 to the American Red Cross.
She said sending money directly to the Red Cross made the most sense.
‘Some people will send stuff they might not need, this way they can use it for what they want,? she said.
Tastefully Simple is a food product line featuring dips, soups, deserts and meals that take two or less steps to make.
‘It’s fast and easy to make,? she said.
Once she’s collected all of her donations for the Red Cross, Burns, who is a a 1987 OHS graduate, hopes to continue to donate profits to other important causes.
