Poster sales to benefit football team

For only $3 you can own a piece of Wildcat football history and help the team continue its tradition of excellence.
Starting with the season opener Friday, Aug. 26 against Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and at every home game thereafter, Wildcat football fans will be able to purchase full-color posters featuring a team photo, all the players? names and the complete 2005 schedule ? not to mention some cool graphics.
The poster was designed by Dorothy Johnston, owner of Johnston Photography, as a thank you to all the OHS students who have had their pictures taken at her downtown Oxford studio.
‘We get so many kids from Oxford, it’s kind of a way to say thanks and give something back,? she said. ‘A lot of the kids from the football team come in for their senior photographs.?
A total of 1,000 11-inch-by-17-inch posters are being printed, Johnston said. They will be sold for $3 each at home games with $1 per poster directly benefiting the football program.
The poster depicts the entire 2005 football team posing in front of some Oxford fire trucks with flame graphics surrounding the gridiron warriors.
The fire trucks and flames are all part of this year’s team slogan ? ‘Varsity Football so HOT they’re on FIRE!!?
Photographed outside Oxford Station #1 at Church and Washington streets, Johnston thanked Fire Chief Jack LeRoy and his crew for helping make the picture possible.
Johnston also wished to thank Coach Bud Rowley and Toni Streit, athletic department administrative assistant, for getting all the players together for the photo.
In addition to home games, the limited edition souvenir posters will be available at Johnston’s 8 N. Washington St. studio.
