Proposed setback change upsets resident

The Addison Township Planning Commission will hold a 6 p.m. public hearing on May 14 at the Addison Township Office Complex (1440 Rochester Rd.) as they move in the direction of changing Suburban Estates side setbacks minimum from 50 feet to 30 feet.

I am only one of 35 properties that would be affected by a change that was initiated by the building department with no rationale given, and no complaints by residents. The reason you should care is because if they get away with doing this to us, they can seek changes to your zoning codes/ ordinances without your knowledge. They are not obligated to notify you of issues that affect your property. The township’s public notices only appear on their website, outside the office complex, and in the Oxford Leader.

I am asking you to attend the May 14 hearing, view the minutes for the planning commission’s May 8, 2018 and Feb. 12, 2019 meetings. There is also a video of the Feb. 12 meeting you can view at www.OCCTV.org where I express my objections, and I encourage people to watch the entire video.

If you cannot attend to express your objections, you can write a letter to township Clerk Pauline Bennett or send an email to her at pbennett@addisontwp.org.

I am so passionately opposed to any changes to Ordinance Section 7.05 that I would be willing to meet with you at your convenience to get your signature on a petition in opposition. Email me at rosannej@yahoo.com to make arrangements.
