NOTICE

Oxford Community Schools

Please take notice that due to the resignation of Mike Schweig, effective June 30, 2017, one (1) seat is vacant on the Oxford Board of Education seven (7) member board.

The State of Michigan General School Laws states that board member vacancies shall be filled within 30 days from the effective date of a resignation. The vacancy shall be filled with a legally qualified person who is appointed by vote of the remaining members of the board at a regular or special meeting of the board. The person appointed to fill a vacancy shall file acceptance of the office, including an affidavit of eligibility, with the secretary of the board, and shall take the oath of office as prescribed by law. The appointee shall hold office until the next school election.

Guidelines for interested parties include the following:

QUALIFICATIONS: U. S. Citizen, 18 years of age, registered voter, and resident of the Oxford Community School District.

LETTER OF INTENT/ A letter of intent, describing why the applicant wants to NOTICE OF INTEREST: serve on the Board, and what unique qualities, expertise or experience they may have to contribute to the Board of Education. This document must be submitted to Superintendent Tim Throne, 10 N. Washington Street, Oxford, MI 48371. Deadline for submitting the letter of intent is 4:00 p.m. on July 14, 2017. Upon receipt of the letter of intent, an application will be given to the interested party.

APPLICATION: Due no later than 1:00 p.m. on July 18, 2017. Submit to Superintendent Tim Throne.

TERM OF OFFICE: Appointee shall serve on the Board of Education until December 31, 2018.

INTERVIEWS: Public interviews will be held at a special meeting of the Oxford Board of Education on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. at the Board of Education Office, 10 N. Washington Street, Oxford, MI.
