Robert Waldo Wightman

Robert Waldo Wightman, of Lapeer and formerly of Oxford, passed away April 5, 2018. He was 84.Wightman USE

He graduated from Oxford High School class of 1952. Robert loyally served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956 – 1960. After receiving an honorable discharge, he was employed by the Oakland County Road Commission from 1964 until his retirement in 1989. Some of his favorite hobbies were building and flying his remote controlled airplanes and woodworking. He especially enjoyed making and giving away his handcrafted clocks.

Robert loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family.

Robert is survived by his wife Barbara Ann Wightman; daughters Kathryn Claycomb, Caroline Wightman; son Gregory (Sam) Wightman; grandchildren Barbara (B.J.) Frantz, Robert Stites, Timothy Claycomb, and Erin Sehnert; great-grandchildren Olivia, Nicholas, and Andrew Frantz; brother David (Pam) Wightman of Florida; sister Sue Baker of Louisiana; also several aunts, cousins and many great neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ward and Eleanor Wightman.

In lieu of flowers, the Wightman family requests that donations be made to either Trinity United Methodist Church or McLaren Visiting Nurse & Hospice

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors – Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
