Saferian remembered

The Oxford business community lost one of its own on Nov. 8. Anthony “Tony” David Saferian, 58, lost his life in an automobile accident in Lapeer County. For many years he owned and operated SureGuard Roofing & Maintenance, 650 S. Lapeer Road.

He liked that Oxford is a family oriented community, and most are close knit,” his daughter Skylar Saferian said. “He enjoyed the small business community as well, as many around the area helped one another.”

He had been in business since 1989 and in 2012, re-branded his business with a new name, SureGuard. “He was proud SureGuard won the Oxford Leader’s Best of the Best for eight consecutive years.”

She said her father loved to talk. “He would tell you all about his truck and how well behaved his faithful dog, DOG. He loved his children and loved taking them on vacations with him. He loved it when they worked with him and was proud of how they strived for the same greatness he did.”

He is survived by his children Anthony II, Dillon (Morgan), Skylar and Dominic Saferian; grandchildren Mason, Austyn and Wraith; his siblings Richard Saferian, Tina (Vanessa Ray) Byrd, Julieann DuLong , Daniel Saferian, Joseph Saferian, Jeffrey (Stacy) Saferian and Lisa Saferian (John) Schiszler, many nephews and nieces.

He was an extremely intelligent man who cared deeply about anyone and everyone, and would do anything for anyone,” Skylar said. “He loved to help in every way he could. His main goal was to take care of his family.”
