In February, Peter Burean, 17, completed his Eagle Scout project.
He is a Life Scout in Troop 366 and currently serves as the Troop’s Senior Patrol Leader. His project was to construct and place screech owl houses along the Polly Ann Trail.
Five houses were hung, three in the section of trail between Drahner and Burdick and another two were placed along the trail west of Lake George.
The breeding season for screech owls runs from March until May, so the houses were placed at the perfect time for adult screech owls to use them for nesting. Peter worked with Linda Moran of the Polly Ann Trail to develop the project.
Peter is a senior at Oxford High School and is the son of Kim and Tony Burean.
