Spring cleaning planned for Addison Township

Although we’re just now beginning to feel the chill of winter, Addison Twp. is already planning for the 2006 township-wide spring clean up.
The township board approved that Waste Management will provide the clean up for the third year in a row, only this year, they will add two rearload compactor trucks for all mixed solid waste.
What’s more, it will save Addison $100 compared to last year’s clean up. Last year’s budget for the clean up was $4,650, but because the volume of waste in Addison has remained consistent, Waste Management rep Brian Conaway said they will only charge $4,550 this year.
Other items Waste Management provides for clean up are four rolloff containers for scrap steel, eight freon units and one tire removal unit. In previous years, there hasn’t been a charge for residents to participate in the spring clean up.
However, to help offset the cost to the township, the board on August 25, motioned for a $25 charge to residents. No official fee has been set as of yet.
The township is also looking into businesses to make a contribution to keep the cost down for residents.
