State’s proposed decision gives thumbs down to Beaumont

We just received word that Beaumont’s application for a certificate of need from the State of Michigan to build a 117-bed hospital on M-24 in Oxford Township, just north of the village, has been “disapproved,” in a 5-page proposed decision. A lack of population within the area that Beaumont was proposing to serve and within 30 minutes’ drive time of the proposed hospital site was cited by the state as the reason. A hearing may be requested on this proposed decision. Such a request must be filed within 15 days of Beaumont receiving written notification from the state.
