Swimmers earn first win of season

The Wildcat Varsity Swim team captured it first victory of the year after defeating Brandon 115-71 on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The results of the meets were:
In the 200 meter Medley Relay, the A relay team of Senior Jennifer Sunman, Sophomore Ellen Saville, Sophomore Claire Patrell and Junior Sarah Skelton finished second with a time of 2:17.22. The B relay of Senior Kara Charles, Sophomore Emily Gilmore, Sophomore Amanda Delapaz and Junior Anna Daves finished third.
In the 200 Freestyle, Junior Jenna Mallard won the event in a time of 2:12.68. Skelton came in third and Sunman finished fourth.
Saville finished second in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:43.73. Patrell took third and Senior Rikki Jarvis was fourth.
In the 50 Freestyle, Delapaz came in first with a time of 29.59. Daves came in close second and Junior Jasmine Vickery finished fourth.
Senior Olivia Martin finished fourth in the diving portion with 154.50 points. Sophomore Bailey Terrian was fifth.
First place in the 100 Fly went to Patrell, who won with a time of 1:10.01. Delapaz took third and Sophomore Brooklyn Allen was fifth.
The Wildcats dominated the 100 Freestyle, claiming the first three spots. Mallard took first with a time of 1:01.13, Daves and Jarvis took second and third respectively.
The Wildcats again took the top three spots in the 500 Freestyle. Skelton finished in a time of 6:03.41. Senior Kaitlyn Kimmel finished second and Freshman Caitlyn Wroblewski came in third.
The Oxford Relay teams claimed the top two spots in the 200 Free Relay. The A relay of Mallard, Vickery, Delapaz and Daves took first with a time of 1:59.36. The B relay of Jarvis, Charles, Freshman Sammi Kurk and Freshman Brenda Flasher came in second.
In the 100 Backstroke, Sunman came in second with a time of 1:17.07, while Charles came in third and Wroblewski finished fourth.
Gilmore finished second in the 100 Breaststroke with her time of 1:25.22. Saville came in third and Kimmel rounded out the top five.
The Wildcat’s 400 relay team of Skelton, Patrell, Saville and Mallard took first place with a time of 4:19.11. The B relay of Jarvis, Wroblewski, Sunman and Kimmel finished third.
Three of the relay teams competed in Oakland County Swim and Dive meets on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The 200 Medley Relay of Sunman, Gilmore, Patrell and Mallard placed 32 with a time of 2:14.26.
Even with a second added to their best time, the 200 Free Relay of Skelton, Saville, Patrell and Mallard finished 32, while the 400 Free Relay team of Skelton, Saville, Patrell and Mallard finished 31.
Head Swim Coach Jackie Boswell was pleased with how the girls swam. She also stated that the girls learned a lot from watching the swimmers and divers at the Oakland County meets, focusing on the individual techniques that can help each swimmer and diver.
