Teacher receives grant for dry erase board

Congratulations to Barb Johnston, a fourth grade teacher at Oxford Elementary, who won the Learning Creates Community Understanding Mini-Grant Award last Tuesday.
Lakes Community Credit Union presented Johnston with the $250 grant for her request to purchase a white dry erase board for her classroom to replace the blackboard.
‘I chose to write a grant for this because I noticed some of my students were having difficulty seeing the writing on the board from the back of our room,? she said. ‘I knew that the school district could not afford it with the current budget crisis we are facing.?
Johnston said she was ‘so excited? to win this grant because she’s written several grants to receive technology for her classroom in the past but never won.
‘I am so thankful to Lakes Community Credit Union for honoring and supporting the teachers in our community,? she said. ‘Their generosity has a big impact on our community and I don’t think people realize it.?
