The Village Photographer

Ortonville- A blend of the old with the new is offered at The Village Photographer, 421 Mill St.
‘Our focus is good, clean, quality photography, along with keeping up with trends, at an affordable price,? says Bob Flath, who officially opened the studio with son Robert on Oct. 1.
‘We’re giving a new look to an old name.?
Bob Flath started as a photographer in 1959 with Sayles Studio in Waterford. He moved on to become a partner in a commercial photography studio in Detroit, and for several years in a row was listed as one of the top ten photographers in the state by the Michigan Professional Photographers Association.
In 1977, he opened The Village Photographer and was very successful. He closed the studio in 1992 due to health issues and other problems, but continued freelance work for individuals and businesses.
He has been the chief photographer for The Citizen since 2003.
This year, Robert Flath approached his father about working with him, and The Village Photographer was back in business.
‘People know the reputation of The Village Photographer as outstanding for quality and service,? said Robert. ‘We are very competitive with studios in Oakland County and Genesee County.?
The father and son team offer all forms of photography, including high school senior portraits, weddings, infants, children, and families.
‘We get as excited as the families and subjects of photos when they see their pictures,? said Bob.
As a full-service studio, the Flaths also offer copy and restoration work.
Attention to detail, superior service, and an easy access location are what sets them apart from other studios. The Village Photographer also uses a professional photo lab for best results.
‘We take our work very personally and would never let anything go out that we were not proud to put The Village Photographer name on,? said Robert.
The Village Photographer, 421 Mill St., is open from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and evenings or Saturdays by appointment only. Details: (248) 627-4848 or www.thevillagephotographer.net.
