This ain’t your father’s chalkboard

Students and teachers at Clear Lake Elementary took time out of their busy schedule to sit through a demonstration on the school’s new interactive whiteboard.
Representatives from Discovery Education and CDW Government Inc, (CDW-G) set up the interactive system and did multiple demonstrations to six K-5 groups throughout the day.
The demonstrations focused on different aspects of science, such as creating habitats, growing algae and even making a tornado.
‘The kids just love the technology,? said Vice President of Partnerships for Discovery Education Mary Rollins.
Once set up, the system can easily be figured out.
‘I could literally set up one of the labs and give one of the kids a pen and not say a word and they will figure it out,? said Jonathan Buntain, a District Manager for Discovery Education.
‘They will go up and start touching things and it just starts working, ? he said.
As reported in a previous issue, Clear Lake was one of five grand prize winners of $45,000 worth of free technology that was sponsored by Discovery Education and CDW-G.
The school received 20 wireless computers, 20 student response devices, three wireless access points, mobile laptop cart, video projector, document camera, laser jet printer, video camcorder and subscription services from Discovery Education.
