Wildcat grapplers went to state tournament

Earlier in the month four Oxford High School wrestlers represented Wildcat Nation at the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Individual State Tournament.
Over 1,100 wrestlers grappled that weekend away at Ford Field. OHS wrestlers Senior Captain Jack Smith (160 lbs), Senior Sal Vackaro (152 lbs.), Junior Koen Eberhard (103 lbs.) and Freshman Luke Johonson (135 lbs.) wore uniforms honoring the four students who died in the Nov. 30 shooting and one who suffered suffered severe injuries. Their singlets had (Tate) Myre on the back and on the pant leg listed three other victims killed, Hana St. Juliana, Madisyn Baldwin, Justin Shilling and Riley Franz who was injured.
Vackaro finished his Wildcat wrestling career with a 4th place All-State Medal. Smith finished his Wildcat wrestling career with an 8th place All-State medal. Eberhard finished the season with a 6th place All-State Medal.
The MHSAA also awarded Oxford alumni Trent Myre with the Assistant Coach of the Year Award.
