Wildcat Way on hold until after road paving

A request to change the name of Ray Road between M-24 and North Oxford Road was put on hold for now by the Oxford Township Board.
Superintendent Dr. William Skilling asked the board to consider changing the road’s name to either Wildcat Way or Wildcat Drive, a back-up choice.
‘Our goal is to see Wildcat Way become part of a celebratory drive to Oxford High School,? Skilling wrote in a June 29 letter to township officials.
OHS is located along that stretch of Ray Road.
Township officials didn’t appear to have any problems with the idea of changing the road’s name.
However, they did indicate a desire to hold off on the possible renaming until after that section of Ray is paved next spring using up to $1.5 million in federal stimulus funds.
Officials indicated they don’t want to do anything that might cause a potential delay or loss of their share of the Obama bucks flowing from Washington D.C.
