Winning streak ends with Romeo

The Oxford Varsity girls soccer team ended their winning streak on Friday with a 2-0 loss against Romeo.
Although the team finished the first half without letting the other team score, the second half fell victim to good defense.
‘Oxford had numerous chances but couldn’t convert,? coach John Thaler said. ‘Oxford was missing some key players due to a school function out of state which meant a few players were plying in new positions.?
Romeo’s first goal of the game slipped by goalie Kelly Henry. The second goal came late in the half which the Wildcats couldn’t regroup to counter.
The girls are now 7 ? 3 ? 1 overall and 6 ? 1 in the Flint Metro League. The girls take on Holly away at 6:30 p.m.
On the JV girls soccer front, the team held Romeo to a 0 ? 0 game through the first half. The second half saw the home team score a flurry of goals which the Wildcats could not recover.
Jennifer O’Brien did a great job in goal and Karlyn Stroope did well in the back to keep any scoring chances out.
