Women’s health seminar at Boulder Pointe April 29

Area women will have a unique opportunity on April 29 to learn how to lead a healthier and more enjoyable life-style at the ‘Healthy Pathways for Women? community education program.
Sponsored by Lapeer Regional Hospital, Oxford Pointe OB/GYN and the Cardiology Institute of Michigan, the free program features four prominent area health care specialists — Dr. Rose Nguyen and Dr. Gary Ritten from Oxford Pointe OB/GYN; Dr. David Brill, also located in Oxford; and Registered Dietician Beth Neumann. Two sessions will cover a variety of topics including heart disease, healthy pregnancy, menopause and alternatives to hysterectomy.
‘Physicians in the Oxford area are hoping to educate the community in these topics and give them an opportunity to ask questions about their health,? said Director of Business Development Alan Quellmalz.
Session A is geared towards women of childbearing age. ‘The goal is to help area residents have a healthy pregnancy and learn more about being pregnant,? said Quellmalz. The three topics being presented are:
n ‘Pathway to a Healthy Pregnancy? by Dr. Rose Nguyen, Obstetrician/Gynecologist, Oxford Pointe OB/GYN.
n ‘Eating Right for Two? by Beth Neumann, R.D., McLaren Weight Management.
n ‘Caring for Your Heart? by Dr. David A. Brill, Cardiology Institute of Michigan.
Women who are in the menopausal stage of life (pre-, current, and post-menopausal) will find the information in Session B invaluable. Quellmalz explained that with so much news currently being circulated regarding hormone replacement therapy, the featured specialists felt providing an opportunity to learn accurate information and ask questions was vital.
‘There are also so many new alternatives available now in place of hysterectomies, and many women are not aware of their options,? he added.
The topics being discussed in Session B are:
n ‘Caring for Your Heart? by Dr. David A. Brill, Cardiology Institute of Michigan.
n ‘Hormone Replacement Therapy… What’s the Right Path?? by Dr. Gary Ritten, Oxford Pointe OB/GYN.
n ‘Alternatives to Hysterectomy? by Dr. Gary Ritten, Oxford Pointe OB/GYN.
‘Healthy Pathways for Women? is scheduled for April 29 at Boulder Pointe Golf Club and Conference Center, located at One Champion’s Circle, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wine and cheese refreshments will be served.
Drawings will also be held for door prizes including 18 holes of golf (with cart) at Devil’s Ridge Golf Club in Oxford, one-year family membership to Seven Ponds Nature Center in Metamora, dinner certificates for the Orion House and Red Knapp’s American Grill, $50 gift certificate to the Adrenaline Salon in Lake Orion, and a gift basket from Starbuck’s in Oxford.
