Young Poets Society

The next great American poet could come from Lakeville Elementary teachers Leslie Klingensmith and Christine Vince’s fourth-grade class.
Throughout the month of April, the creative fourth-graders penned poems in various styles such as acrostic, haiku, quatrain and diamante (see shaded box for definitions).
Everyday students spent some time writing, typing in the computer lab and editing their poems, according to Klingensmith.
Each student’s poetry will be sent to the Student Treasures publishing company to be compiled and printed as individual hardbound books complete with covers designed by the little authors.
Parents will then be able to purchase these books featuring their child’s poetry.
Here’s a sampling of the children’s poems. Enjoy.
