Youth wrestlers compete in state finals at OHS

Fifteen members of the Oxford Youth Wrestling Club participated in the Mid-Michigan Wrestling Association’s state finals held March 12 at Oxford High School.
About 759 young grapplers from approximately 80 teams around the state participated in the finals.
Of the 15 wrestlers from Oxford, six earned places in their age various groups and weight classes.
Zachary Hadorn placed third in the 9-10 age group and 110-pound weight class.
Keegan Cantara placed second in the 11-12 age group and 65 pound weight class, while Jacob Peasley placed second in the 80-pound weight class. Matthew Frisch took first place in the same age group at the 85-pound weight class.
Steven Ferguson placed second in the 13-14 age group and the 75-pound weight class, while Dylan Smith placed third.
MMWA President Doug Myer said ‘the success of the event was due to the great cooperation and volunteer efforts.?
